Washed Cordovan Clutch Bag

This leather clutch bag is cut from supple full-grain 2.7mm vegetable-tanned, washed, and tumbled cordovan leather, treated with a matte black “rotten corpse” dye that reveals incredible texture and a waxy pull-up effect.

Vegetable tanning is an ancient artisanal process that carefully balances timing and temperature. Like a fine aged whiskey, time allows natural tannins from tree bark to infuse the leather, producing rich colors and exceptional durability. Controlled cooling helps achieve the desirable texture and softness you expect.

Constructed with a triple-piece pattern, the bag features deconstructed side panels connected by an adapted overlock stitch. Each stitch is hand-sewn with tonal 0.65mm waxed Japanese linen thread over 30 hours, with no machines involved.

The unlined interior highlights flat hammered side seams alongside double patch pockets secured by a vertical Riri zipper with hand-forged zipper pulls. A small leather loop with a military clip lets you attach keys or a keychain. The pockets are spacious enough to hold smartphones, glasses, and wallets.

The full-length Riri zipper closure is reinforced with a soft 1.2mm vegetable-tanned horse culatta leather for durability. The zipper pulls are custom hand-forged to mimic the leather’s textured surface.

The center spine wraps around from the base, creating a minimal rear carry handle and housing a hand-forged iron shank for the front closure. The bag is large enough to fit a 14” MacBook.
