0xidised .925 Sterling Silver Buckle Belt

This double-layered belt is entirely handcrafted from 3mm vegetable-tanned horse culatta leather, washed, tumbled, and hand-dyed in a deep matte black “rotten corpse” finish — a surface alive with depth, grain, and tonal irregularity.

Culatta is a rare leather cut, merging areas just above the cordovan with the belly and hind shanks. The result: a dense, tight-grained structure with a medium to firm temper, balancing strength and tactile sensitivity.

The tanning process relies on traditional vegetal methods, using natural extracts like tree bark. With time and temperature as key variables, the leather slowly absorbs tannins, giving it long-lasting integrity and a finish that matures uniquely with wear.

At the core of the piece is a solid .925 sterling silver buckle, hand-forged from a single 5mm silver rod. The silhouette is intentionally fragmented — bent, hammered, and shaped entirely by hand. The center bar and pin are formed from thinner 3mm silver stock, completing the architectural, disconnected form. The metal undergoes a 10-hour slow oxidization to develop its rich, lived-in patina.

The belt features double leather layering for both structure and wearability — the outer face bearing the raw character, while the inner sits smooth against the body. The two panels are joined by hand using 0.65mm Japanese linen thread, waxed in tonal black and sewn over an 8-hour hand process, entirely without machines.

Each piece is delivered in a handmade leather pouch.
